Wetland Ecosystem Treatment

(WET) Systems

Integrated Wastewater Purification, Resource Production & Habitat Creation

Welcome to Biologic Design

Design and Creation of Regenerative, Ecological Wastewater Purification and Whole Site Water Systems.

Biologic Design is an applied permaculture design consultancy.

We design, create and plant Constructed Wetlands called Wetland Ecosystem Treatment (WET) Systems.

We also create and implement Water Retentive Landscape designs, to enhance both drought and flood resilience.

  • Wetland Ecosystem Treatment - WET Systems

Our WET Systems are multi-species, soil-based constructed wetland ecosystems.

They use soil as the purification medium, rather than gravel as in conventional Reedbed Treatment Systems.

As well as several reed species, WET Systems are planted with a range of native wetland trees and flowering marginal plants.

  • Whole Site Water Reticulation Systems

A site water reticulation system creates a water retentive landscape, harvesting the all the water flows available:

Rainwater, wastewater, springs, and watercourses can all be directed so that, in Permaculture Design terms, the water resource can ‘do its duty’ to create lush, abundant and productive landscapes.

These whole-site systems can be planted as wetland habitat and also as productive functional landscapes.

How Biologic Design works with you

When creating a WET System or Water Retentive Landscape, Biologic Design carries out and supervises all the work involved, from the initial consultation and appraisal of the site, the design, costing/quotation and the planning application; the creation and planting of the WET System, on to offering a complete management service to keep the system functioning in tip-top condition over the long term.

Please contact us by email for an initial discussion to talk through your wastewater or landscape design options.

During this initial stage we will explore the following:

Your location, land, soil type and underlying geology; type of wastewater, including current volumetric and organic loadings, and for industrial applications, any projected increases.

Once we have an agreed specification for the system you require, and you would then like us to carry out a design exercise in order to prepare a quotation for you, we would arrange a site visit, for us to dig some trial pits in order to assess the earth resources on the site of the proposed WET System.

Since each WET System and Water Retentive Landscape is site-specific, we cannot provide a firm quotation without first making a site visit to assess it.
